FranklinCovey Education, a division of Franklin Covey Co., (NYSE: FC) a global firm specializing in organizational performance improvement, and Eduplanet21, a professional learning and curriculum development company, announced today an agreement that allows Eduplanet21 to build customized professional development training modules using content from FranklinCovey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People® Signature Edition 4.0 work session.

The customized training modules will be made available to Pennsylvania educators through the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units (PAIU), a non-profit organization comprised of the Commonwealth’s 29 regional education service agencies that provide instruction and operation services to 500 school districts, 120 charter schools and nearly 2,400 non-public schools.

“We are excited to announce this collaboration with Eduplanet21, to bring one of FranklinCovey’s most renowned and engaging work sessions to educators and administrators throughout Pennsylvania,” said Sean Covey, FranklinCovey Education Practice Leader. “Educational leaders across the globe have reaped the benefits of participating in and implementing the content in the 7 Habits 4.0 work session. Now, Pennsylvania educators will have access to that award-winning content, designed specifically to increase their ability to become more effective leaders. The work session will address their needs as teachers and student role models and will be delivered to them in a flexible, interactive way.”

Eduplanet21, in partnership with PAIU, provides anytime, anywhere professional learning opportunities to Pennsylvania educators and will utilize elements of FranklinCovey’s 7 Habits® 4.0 work session to create four specific “Learning Paths” geared toward Pennsylvania educators and administrators. The customized training modules will be available for the first time to educators through an online, on demand platform, allowing for self-paced delivery as Pennsylvania educators work to fulfill their professional development requirements.

“The powerful combination of Eduplanet21 and FranklinCovey will streamline access to FranklinCovey’s leadership training for Pennsylvania educators through Eduplanet21’s unique professional learning platform,” said Jeff Colosimo, Eduplanet21 President and CEO. “We are eager to put the 7 Habits 4.0 work session to use and create engaging, actionable modules with practical applications that Pennsylvania educators can immediately implement into their classrooms. This new series of learning paths is a great addition to our robust catalog of Act 48 approved content.”

Launched in 2014, following an extensive update, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Signature Edition 4.0 work session is one of FranklinCovey’s most impactful leadership training work session, using a unique, compelling, inside-out approach to leadership development. The principles taught in the work session are universal, timeless, cross-cultural and have been widely accepted, as such. The work session was specifically designed to not only help participants learn the 7 Habits, but to also use the processes and tools so they actually live the 7 Habits on a daily basis, becoming more effective leaders.

“Our children deserve great schools, and great schools require great leaders,” said Tom Gluck, PAIU Executive Director. “PAIU is proud to work with FranklinCovey and Eduplanet21 to offer teachers and school leaders a world-class leadership program through the convenience of an online platform, and at a price that will create unprecedented access to the 7 Habits 4.0 work sessions. This project is another great example of Intermediate Units working to deliver education solutions for students, schools and communities everywhere in the Commonwealth.”

In the summer of 2016, FranklinCovey received confirmation from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) that the content in the 7

Habits 4.0 work session and in the Leader in Me, a whole-school transformation process that teaches K-12 students leadership and life skills, had been approved as authorized Act 48 professional development curriculum. FranklinCovey will maintain their authorized status until June of 2019.

Pennsylvania’s Act 48 requires state licensed educators to earn a certain amount of professional development credits within a five-year period to maintain their certification status. Those credits can be earned through a number of avenues, including continued collegiate study, completion of PDE professional education courses, 180 hours of continuing professional education programs through a PDE approved provider, or any combination of the above.
